For riders
- Create a profile with your cellphone number, home suburb and work address.
- Search your corridor and reserve a seat for a single trip or a full month.
- Pay by debit order, card or PayFast — the fare shown is the fare you pay.
- Cancel before 18:00 the day before for a full credit back to your RouteMate SA wallet.
For drivers
- Register with your licence, roadworthy certificate and passenger insurance.
- Publish a route with pickup points, departure time, seat count and fare per seat.
- Seats fill automatically; you see your manifest and rider contacts each evening.
- RouteMate SA keeps 12% and pays the balance into your bank account on the 3rd of each month.
Money, tax and admin
- All fares are quoted and settled in South African Rand.
- Monthly statements show gross fares, commission, refunds and net payout.
- Refunds for driver no-shows are issued within 48 hours.
- Downloadable CSV statements for your accountant or SARS records.
Privacy & liability
- POPIA-aligned: you control what other members see and can request deletion at any time.
- Exact home addresses are never shown — pickup happens at agreed public points.
- Drivers must carry valid passenger liability cover; RouteMate SA is a matching platform, not a carrier.
- Terms of use, liability limits and insurance requirements are accepted at registration.
