RouteMate SA handles matching, seat management, collections and payouts so the admin stays simple.
For riders
- Create a profile with your cellphone number, home suburb and work address.
- Search your corridor and reserve a seat for a single trip or a full month.
- Pay by card through Paystack or by instant EFT through Ozow — the fare shown is the fare you pay.
- Cancel from your Bookings page — your refund tier depends on when you cancel relative to the booked month. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
For drivers
- Register with your ID or passport, driving licence and vehicle details.
- Publish a route with pickup points, departure time, seat count and fare per seat.
- Seats fill automatically; you see your manifest and rider contacts each evening.
- RouteMate SA keeps 12% and pays the balance into your bank account — every Friday evening for the trips confirmed that week, or monthly at 6pm on the last day of the month (the Friday before when that's a weekend), whichever you choose.
Money and admin
- All fares are quoted and settled in South African Rand.
- Card payments and automatic membership renewals run through Paystack; instant EFT payments run through Ozow.
- Drivers see their gross fares, commission and net payout for every month in their Earnings history; refunds are shown on each booking.
- Refunds are requested from your Bookings page and approved by our team before money goes back through Paystack or Ozow.
Privacy & liability
- POPIA-aligned: you control what other members see and can request deletion at any time.
- Exact home addresses are never shown — pickup happens at agreed public points.
- Drivers are responsible for safe driving and maintaining their vehicles; RouteMate SA is a matching platform, not a carrier.
- Terms of use, driver responsibilities and liability limits are accepted at registration.
